Todd A. Kinney, DDS

Dr. Amy C. Madden Kinney, DDS graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1995 after attending the University of Wyoming for her undergraduate studies in Biology and Psychology.  Dr. Todd A. Kinney, DDS graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1995 after receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology with high honors from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1991.  Upon moving to Bozeman in 1997, they established their private care practice with an emphasis in health-centered integrative dentistry.

In 2010, Drs. Todd and Amy’s practice was recognized as the first Center for Dental Medicine in Montana.  Drs. Kinney have received certification in the use of the diode soft tissue laser and Er,Cr:YSGG laser for Dual Wavelength Deep Pocket Therapy (DPT)™, a minimally invasive, FDA-cleared therapy for moderate to advanced gum disease.  Laser- assisted periodontal therapy has been clinically proven to reduce pocket depth and inflammation, promote new attachment, and reduce the pain and healing time associated with traditional gum surgery.

Drs. Kinney are dedicated to the practice of integrative dentistry. Integrative dentistry recognizes how the mouth and the body interact with each other and that the key to optimal health is to understand this integral relationship.  The latest medical research strongly supports that the health of all the bodily systems, especially the endocrine, immune, nervous, cardiovascular, and oral cavity, share common connections.  With an integrative approach, dental and medical care can be tailored to specifically address the underlying causes of disease, rather than just treating the symptoms.

“We have always known that optimal oral health will not only help patients keep their teeth for life but also help them live healthier, longer lives.  Our primary goal is to share information about holistic wellness with patients so that they may make educated decisions about their oral and whole body health," says Dr. Kinney.  "By integrating care with other allied health professionals, patients benefit from earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment of important medical diseases related to the Oral-Systemic Connection.

Dental mercury (silver amalgam fillings) and other metals, dental infections, TMJ/bite problems, and sleep apnea all have negative impacts on overall health.  Because of these concerns, their office is exclusively mercury-free and mercury safe, focusing on patient education and safe removal of mercury amalgam fillings based on the recommendations of International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine, and International Association of Mercury Safe Dentists

Drs. Kinney are post-university graduates of the Schuster Center for Professional Development, the Center for Advanced Biologic Orthodontics, Orognathic Bioesthetics Inc., and the OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry, the premier private institute and exclusive source for the teaching the clinical applications of Bioesthetic Dentistry.  Drs. Kinney have also completed advanced clinical training with the Piper Education and Research Center, Seattle Study Club, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Wilkodontics and Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics, PerioProtect Method, DOCS Education in Oral Conscious Sedation, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Huggins Applied Healing and Huggins Protocol, World Clinical Laser Institute, and the Chen Laser Institute.
